A rebrand is not a glow-up for fun. It is a business decision. Here is how I tell the difference between a brand that needs a change and a business that just has a different problem.
7 signs it is time
- You are embarrassed to send your link. If you hesitate before handing someone your website or card, your brand is costing you deals.
- You have outgrown who you were. You started small and cheap and now serve bigger clients, but your brand still looks like day one.
- You look like everyone else. Swap your logo for a competitor's and nobody would notice. That is a problem.
- Nothing matches. Your Instagram, website, emails and packaging all look like they came from different companies.
- Your product is good but the sales are not. People who find you like what you sell, but not enough find you or trust you fast enough.
- You are selling to a new audience. New customer, new offer or new price point usually needs a new look to match.
- Your name or logo ties you to the past. A merger, a pivot, a name that no longer fits what you do. It is time to move on.
2 signs it is not
- Sales are slow and you have not looked at your offer or ads. Fix the funnel before the logo.
- You are just tired of it. You see your brand every day, so you get bored first. Your customers have not even noticed it yet.
What to do next
If you counted three or more from the first list, you are probably ready. Write down what you want the new brand to do for the business, then talk to someone who will ask you about your customers before they show you a single logo. We do exactly that at Riches & Saint, and the first call is free.
Quick answers
Will a rebrand hurt my search ranking?
It can if the website changes without care. Keep your page addresses, redirect anything that moves, and update your Google Business Profile and listings so your name stays consistent.
Should I tell my customers about a rebrand?
Yes. A short announcement on social and email helps people understand the change and keeps trust.
